Fully Trained Installation Team.

Installation can be carried out by ward staff or a hospital estates department, but it is highly recommended to be carried out by our team of skilled fitters. The reason for this is to ensure that the graphics are positioned correctly, and that expensive mistakes are eliminated. Fitting certain small images are well within the capabilities of many people, but some of the graphics are large, and need two people to acheive the best results.

We will quote for fitting on an individual basis, as each hospital and ward requirements are different, but it is preferable to schedule the fitting of 4/5 wards at a time if this is possible. The installation costs can then be evenly spread to make the operation more cost effective. When correctly planned and organised in advance, a two strong team can fit up to 150 pieces per day.

Our fitters are specifically trained to work in a sensitive healthcare environment, and are fully briefed beforehand to the requirements of each situation. We fully understand the needs and time constraints of ward staff, and work closely to ensure that there is a minimum amount of disruption to the daily routine of the department.

When our team arrives, we will meet with the ward manager, sister or matron, and do a walk around the department, placing the mats where they are needed, before fixing them to the floor. We will not fix anything that has not been pre planned and authorised, as this can cause waste if not positioned correctly.

Patient Dignity

Clearly, there are some wards and hospital departments where the presence of male workers can cause unease, such as maternity and general 'ladies' wards. We have females on our installation team as well, and we have found this to be a very real benefit in these areas.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Medifilm graphics can be cleaned normally with mechanical rotary cleaning machines, but we strongly recommend a damp mopping system such as the Microfibre Cleaning System. This is already a standard mopping system in many healthcare environments, and helps to reduce the risk of spreading dirt and bacteria from one room to another.

All normal cleaning chemicals can be used safely, and the mats should be cleaned as part of the normal daily schedule.

If using a rotary type buffing machine, it is also essential to ensure that there is no debris or grit in the cleaning pad, as this can cause damage to the vinyl.

MediFilm will not be held responsible for any damage that occurs by incorrect cleaning and maintenance procedures. It is recommended only to damp mop the graphic areas to help to avoid damage to the edges.
