Aseptic Non Touch Technique (ANTT) mats - a mat specifically designed to adhere to the preparation surface in clinical rooms.

This enables the ward to designate a permanent core area within the clinic room for staff to prepare IV drugs/injections and procedures requiring aseptic technique. The mat is impregnated with silver, a product that helps to reduce microbial contamination of the surface and it can be cleaned and disinfected to promote robust infection control practices. This serves a second purpose by designating a specific clinical area for this purpose in establishing a STOP moment for staff that may have previously interrupted a procedure by not realising the importance of the activity taking place. This supports reducing the risk of drug preparation error.

ANTT Trays

Medifilm have recently introduced a new tray, to ensure that all IV preparations are carried out in a dedicated clean area. The tray features smooth corners for easy cleaning, and NO raised edges, ridges or other areas that may harbour bacteria. 

Recent extensive trials in a leading UK trust has seen the tray go through at least 30 cleaning routines per day, with no adverse effects, and with positive remarks from staff.
